Our Sunday School

|
Sunday
School classes for Faith Lutheran
Church are held each Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. Classes are available for
preschool, kindergarten, junior, preteen, junior high, and high school
children. Each Sunday morning begins with an opening in the church sanctuary
for grades preschool through fifth with prayer, a message from Pastor, music,
and announcements. Children and teachers then progress to their classrooms to
study lessons from the series Our Life in Christ from Concordia
Publishing House. (Starting June 25th, it will be 8:15 am)
Summer Sunday School meets with
combined classes and uses a more informal teaching approach.
Once a month, on the third Sunday,
the children sing during Divine Service. They also take part in an annual
Christmas program involving the telling of the Christmas story and singing
several Christmas songs.

Adult Education

|
As
Christians, we are called to study and learn God’s Word. There are a variety of
educational opportunities for adults.
Adult Bible Study
– This class meets every Sunday morning at 9:30 am.
This class normally studies a book of the Bible verse-by-verse and
chapter-by-chapter. Occasionally, a topical study is presented.
(Starting June 25th, it will be 8:15 am)
Doctrine & Theology (D&T) Class
– This class meets every Sunday afternoon at 3:30 pm and is intended for
those who desire to delve a little
deeper into the Scriptures.
Adult
Confirmation – This class
is primarily intended for those of non-Lutheran backgrounds who desire to join
this congregation, although it is also for those who desire to refresh
themselves. This is an “as-needed” class and will be held as a class of
many students or in the home as a one-on-one class.
Other classes are periodically added
as needed or desired. Keep your eye on the church calendar.

Junior Confirmation

|
Confirmation is a custom of the church and not a sacrament. It links the
catechumens to their Baptism, celebrates the reception of the Lord’s Word among
them and welcomes them to the Lord’s Table. Luther strongly urges in both the
Large and the Small Catechisms that those who are unwilling to learn, at the
very least, the Ten Commandments, the Creed, and the Lord’s Prayer, should not
be admitted to the Sacrament. Baptized Christians are admitted to the Sacrament
when they have been examined and absolved by their pastor in accordance with the
practice outlined in the Augsburg Confession (Article XXV). |
A.R.K.

| Our
children’s midweek education program is called A.R.K. – an acronym for Almighty
Redeeming King. It meets on Wednesday nights in the months of October,
November, February, March, and sometimes part of April. A.R.K is for children
ages 3 through 4th grade. The children enjoy Bible stories, Bible
memorization, music, snacks, and crafts all centered around God’s Word. In the
past, we have also had fun nights such as performing skits, singing at area care
centers, and “Who Am I Night” where children dress up as a person from the
Bible. |
VACATION BIBLE
SCHOOL
| Vacation Bible School
is held at Faith Lutheran Church the third week of every July. A special theme
is followed every year. Children enjoy stories, puppet shows, plays, songs,
recreation, special food teats, crafts, and fellowship each summer. It’s a
fun-filled week which the children always seem to enjoy. |
