The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is an
international organization organized by “societies” within local congregations.
The primary purpose of the LWML is to assist in the great work of spreading the
Good News of Jesus Christ into the world. To this end, the LWML works to
educate, strengthen and motivate women of all ages both in Gospel outreach and
faith-sharing, as well as preparing future leaders.
The LWML
funds its mission projects through the Mite Box and thank offerings. The
Mite Box is based on the story of the Widow’s mite in Luke 21:1-4 where
it is recorded that “she gave everything she had.” Members often place pennies,
nickels, dimes, quarters, and even more in their Mite Box each day.
Together with the thank offerings, tens of millions of dollars have been given as
mission grants since 1942.
Our local society meets at the
church on the second Thursday of each month.
